Experience Luxury Beyond Compare. This is the tagline that forefronts what the global brand Mandarin Oriental is all about.
It was because of an exam I was taking which will be held at the Mandarin Oriental Manila that made my mom and I book to a well-deserved night of comfort. My exam was scheduled early morning so it was a practical idea to just get a room the night before, instead of going through the morning rush, not to mention that I live up north. Not only was able to get rid of the morning stress, I was physically at ease as well, which was a major advantage.
While the entire Makati Avenue is wrapped with numerous 3-5 star hotels, I was in no place to skip a chance to check out the Philippines' Mandarin Oriental. So I was hitting two birds with one stone.

For some reasons, the supposedly Superior room I booked at their website was upgraded to a Deluxe Room at the eight floor. That was a wonderful way to start the experience. So we went straight up after the room cardkeys have been handed.

I have to say that Mandarin Oriental Manila isn't the most modern of them all, their elevators are even manually operated (unlike other five stars hotel where you have to insert your room key card). But it was nothing less than what a 5-star hotel can offer. Mandarin Hotel is even one of the pillars of luxury hotels in the Philippines which makes it hoisted with credibility, reason why a lot of its guests continue to patronize this hotel.
The interiors give you that classic oriental feel and the wooden accents everywhere boosts an exemplary touch.
They may not have the most spacious rooms or the largest beds among others, but the entire floor is functional. The Deluxe room has a coffee table, your own work desks, a number of lamps a room safety box, a wooden cabinet and whatnot.
The bathroom is also a bit aged, but perfectly functioning still. It includes your toilet, a wide mirror and a bath tub with hot and cold shower - the very basics of a luxury hotel.
Complimentary Fruits
One more thing that I particularly like about Mandarin Oriental is the laid back environment it has at the hotel's swimming pool. Not only that, they have free fruits for their guests!

And of course, what is a luxurious getaway without a wonderful dining. Since we booked a bed and breakfast room (you may opt to book a room only, breakfast maybe availed separately at 950+/ person), breakfast was served at the Paseo Restaurant at the ground floor.
Their buffet is of a variety of choices from pastries to cereals, to Asian cuisine or to western breakfast. Its the perfect way to start the day, specially that I was taking an exam that morning.
So I had an early morning date with my mom and over skype with my sisters.
Generally, while Mandarin Oriental Manila isn't the fanciest among the luxury hotel brands in Manila, it surely deserves to be among the list of exhilarating relaxation haven to both business men and leisure seekers.
While others impose that staying in luxury hotels maybe a little pricey, I always believe that it doesn't hurt to treat yourself in some pampering and self spoiling. It is not without guilt of course, but everyone deserves to take a break every once in a while.
You will notice how renewed both your body and mind will be after some good time and a fantastic night.

It is within walking distance to Ayala Triangle where a number of restaurants are located.
